DAY BY DAY

Your itinerary

Daily game drives with your private guide, plus hotel nights before and after the safari. Drive times and wildlife sightings vary with the season and conditions.

  1. When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a representative from Bundi Travel will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha town. The hotel offers everything you need for a comfortable stay, including comfortable rooms, hot water, friendly staff, a swimming pool, and Wi-Fi. You’ll spend your first night in Arusha, relaxing and getting ready for your safari adventure.

If you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, Kenya instead, we can arrange your transfer to Arusha by private vehicle or shared shuttle bus. Our team will assist you with the journey and ensure you arrive safely at your hotel.

    • MealsBreakfast & Dinner

    Check-in starts at 2:00 PM.

  2. After breakfast around 7:30 AM, your safari guide will meet you at the hotel and let the receptionist know he’s there. Once you’re ready, you’ll begin your journey to Tarangire National Park. By about 10:00 AM, you’ll be on your first game drive, exploring the park and enjoying the natural scenery.

Tarangire is home to a variety of wild animals like lions, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. It is especially known for having many elephants, which often gather near the Tarangire River to drink and cool off. Because this is a natural wildlife area, sightings can’t be guaranteed, but your guide will do everything possible to help you spot the animals you hope to see.

During the day, you’ll stop for lunch before continuing the safari in the afternoon. In the evening, you’ll head to your lodge for dinner and some well-deserved rest after a full day of adventure in the park.

No, you don’t have to. Bundi Travel will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your designated hotel. Airport pick-up and drop-off are included in our safari packages. Group transfers can also be arranged upon request.

How much does a safari cost?

Safari prices in Tanzania vary depending on the number of people, the number of days, and your choice of accommodation (budget, mid-range, or luxury). Our packages generally include: • Professional, English-speaking safari guide – Park entrance and conservation fees – New 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof – Meals as per itinerary – Bottled drinking water – Government taxes – Transfers and hotel pick-up/drop-off

How many people can fit in a safari vehicle?

All our safari vehicles are 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs for optimal game viewing. We guarantee a window seat for every guest. • Standard vehicles seat 4 – 6 guests, plus the driver-guide. – Extended vehicles can accommodate up to 7 guests comfortably.

Are there tips or warnings for a Serengeti safari?

Choose an operator committed to responsible tourism. At Bundi Travel, our guides are trained in eco-friendly practices and conservation ethics. Our vehicles are modern and regularly serviced to minimize environmental impact.

What are the roads like on safari?

Safari roads can be rough, dusty, and bumpy—especially in remote areas and national parks. If you have back issues, consider bringing a back brace or cushion for extra comfort.

What about bathroom facilities in the bush?

Most parks have designated public restrooms. However, if you’re far from one, your guide will find a safe and private spot in nature. Don’t worry—our guides are understanding and experienced with such situations.

Can I walk around in the national parks?

Generally, no. For safety reasons, you must remain in the vehicle unless your guide explicitly allows it. Guided nature walks are available in certain parks such as Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

How should I protect myself from the sun?

Tanzania is near the equator, and the sun can be intense. To stay safe: • Wear a hat and sunglasses – Apply high SPF sunscreen – Stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight for long periods

What happens if I get sick or injured on safari?

In case of a medical emergency, our team will arrange immediate assistance or evacuation to the nearest medical facility. We strongly recommend having valid travel and medical insurance.

What if I have special dietary requirements?

No problem! We cater to vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free diets, and food allergies. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly.

Will I encounter snakes or insects?

Insects and reptiles are part of the wild environment, but sightings are rare. In safari vehicles, they are not a concern. For walking safaris, wear boots, long sleeves, and trousers. Use insect repellent to protect against mosquitoes and flies.

Will it be dusty on safari?

Yes, especially during the dry season. Sunglasses, a hat, and a scarf or mask can help protect you from dust. Keep your electronics sealed or in protective cases. Our vehicles are equipped with AC if needed.

What does a typical safari day look like?

A typical day starts early with a morning game drive, followed by lunch and some rest, then an afternoon or sunset game drive. Each park offers a different experience, Serengeti offers vast savannahs and big cats, while Tarangire has elephants, baobabs, and seasonal river crossings.

Will animals roam near the lodges or camps?

Yes. Many camps and lodges are in wildlife areas. While sightings are exciting, always follow staff instructions and never walk alone at night. Remember, you’re in their territory—safety comes first.

Are drinks provided in the safari vehicle?

Yes! Bottled water is provided. Our safari vehicles are fitted with small fridges to keep drinks chilled. You may also bring your favorite soft drinks, beer, or refreshments.

What does “game drive” mean?

A game drive is an excursion in a 4×4 vehicle through national parks to observe and photograph wildlife in their natural habitat. It’s the highlight of the safari!

How far in advance should I book my safari?

We recommend booking at least 6 months in advance. For popular seasons, especially the Wildebeest Migration (June to October), book 10–12 months early to secure the best lodges and camps.

What travel documents do I need?

You’ll need: • A valid passport (at least 6 months beyond your travel dates) – A tourist visa for Tanzania (can be obtained online or upon arrival for many nationalities) – Travel and health insurance (strongly recommended)

What should I pack for a safari?
