Compare Bundi’s four Kilimanjaro routes, offered trek lengths and hut or tent accommodation. Choose an itinerary around your time, preferences and acclimatization needs.
Which Kilimanjaro route is best for you?
There is no single best route for every climber. Start with how many mountain days you can allow, whether you prefer huts or tents, and the daily walking and ascent in the itinerary. Fitness matters, but it does not remove the risk of altitude illness. A short route is not automatically an easier climb.
Lemosho: seven or eight days
Bundi’s Lemosho trips take the scenic western approach. Choose between the 8-day Lemosho itinerary and 7-day Lemosho itinerary. Compare where each night is spent and how the extra day changes the daily schedule. Accommodation on the mountain is in tents.
Machame: six or seven days
Machame includes rainforest, moorland and the Barranco Wall. Bundi offers a 7-day Machame trek and a 6-day Machame trek, both using tented camps. Read the walking stages rather than choosing the shorter option only to save a day.
Marangu: five or six days, with huts
Marangu is the hut-accommodation choice in Bundi’s collection. These are mountain dormitory huts, not hotel rooms. Compare the 6-day Marangu itinerary with the 5-day itinerary, including their ascent schedule and time at altitude.
Rongai: six or seven days
Rongai approaches from Kilimanjaro’s northern side. Bundi offers 7-day Rongai and 6-day Rongai treks. This is another tented option; compare its approach, camp sequence and descent with the western and southern routes.
Questions to ask before choosing
- How many mountain days are included, and are arrival and hotel days separate?
- What are the daily walking times and overnight elevations?
- What equipment, meals, transfers and park charges are included?
- What happens if I become unwell, and what evacuation cover must my insurer provide?
CDC recommends gradual acclimatization. More time can support an appropriate ascent plan, but no route or itinerary guarantees a summit or prevents altitude illness. Discuss personal health concerns with a travel-health clinician and tell your guide promptly if you feel unwell.
For a route recommendation, ask Bundi’s Moshi team with your available dates, hiking experience and accommodation preference. Read our Kilimanjaro packing checklist and seasonal climbing guide next.
